Introduction of Mandatory ETIAS Permit for Travels to Europe
Starting mid-2025, every Canadian traveler planning to visit Europe will be required to possess an ETIAS permit. This is the European Travel Information and Authorization System, implemented by the European Union.
For more information about this permit, you can visit the official website at the following address: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en.
Please note that this permit costs 7 euros per person, and the process can take up to 30 days for approval.
It is also mandatory to have a passport that remains valid for at least 3 months after your departure date from Europe. Without this, entry at the European border will be denied.
Itinerary:
Flight to Lisbon.
Arrive in Lisbon and check into your hotel. Explore Lisbon’s historic center. Visit the Alfama district, Lisbon’s oldest. Explore São Jorge Castle for a panoramic view.
Head down to the Baixa district and discover the Praça do Comércio. Dine in a Fado restaurant in Alfama for an authentic musical experience.
Visit the Belem Tower, an emblematic site of Manueline architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tower offers a breathtaking view of the Tagus River. Then head for the Hieronymite Monastery, a masterpiece of Manueline architecture. The interior is adorned with intricate details and impressive sculptures. End your day relaxing in Belém Park, and be sure to sample the famous pastéis de nata from the Belém patisserie. These little cream tarts are a local specialty and are particularly delicious here.
Spend the day in Sintra, a magical city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the Sintra National Palace, the Pena Palace and the Quinta da Regaleira gardens.
Discover the modern Parque das Nações district, home to the Oceanarium. In the afternoon, visit the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum and the National Museum of Contemporary Art. In the evening, stroll along the Tagus and dine in one of Parque das Nações’ restaurants.
Spend the day in Cascais, renowned for its beautiful beaches, picturesque port, relaxed atmosphere and elegant architecture.
Discover the Bairro Alto district, known for its lively nightlife and narrow streets. In the afternoon, go shopping and visit the trendy boutiques of the Chiado district. In the evening, soak up the bohemian atmosphere of Bairro Alto with its many bars and restaurants.
Flight.
Baixa and Rossio: These districts are in the heart of the city center, offering easy access to the main sights, stores and restaurants. An excellent choice if you prefer to be in the center of the action.
Alfama: Lisbon’s oldest district, Alfama is known for its narrow streets, colorful houses, Fado restaurants and São Jorge Castle. It’s a picturesque and historic district, but note that the streets can be a little steep.
Chiado: An elegant district with high-end boutiques, theaters, cafés and art galleries. An excellent choice if you like shopping and nightlife.
Bairro Alto: Famous for its lively nightlife, Bairro Alto is a bohemian district with numerous bars, clubs and restaurants. If you like to go out at night and be in the heart of the action, this is an option to consider.
Avenida da Liberdade: A wide, elegant tree-lined avenue, with luxury hotels, designer boutiques and restaurants. It’s a quieter neighborhood, but well located.
Parque das Nações: Built for the 1998 World Expo, this modern district boasts contemporary architecture, parks, waterfront cafés and the Oceanário. An interesting option if you prefer a more modern atmosphere.
