Introduction of Mandatory ETIAS Permit for Travels to Europe
Starting mid-2025, every Canadian traveler planning to visit Europe will be required to possess an ETIAS permit. This is the European Travel Information and Authorization System, implemented by the European Union.
For more information about this permit, you can visit the official website at the following address: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en.
Please note that this permit costs 7 euros per person, and the process can take up to 30 days for approval.
It is also mandatory to have a passport that remains valid for at least 3 months after your departure date from Europe. Without this, entry at the European border will be denied.
Itinerary:
Flight to Barcelona.
Arrive in Barcelona and check into your hotel. Begin your journey at the Plaza de Catalunya, the heart of Barcelona. This pigeon-filled location is an ideal meeting point, surrounded by historic monuments, metro stations, tourist buses and major thoroughfares linking the old town. Take a stroll along the famous Rambla and sample some of the delights on offer at Barcelona’s most famous market, La Boqueria.
Climb aboard a multi-stop bus for a first overview of the city, and enjoy your own sightseeing itinerary along several of the routes offered to discover a multitude of ancient, medieval and modern sites. You can take a one- or two-day pass to visit Plaça España, Parc de la Ciutadella, Port Vell, the Gothic Quarter, Quartier Eixample and more. Why not stop off for Sangria and Patatas Bravas!
Take the cable car directly to Montjuïc Castle for an incomparable panoramic view of Barcelona. Stroll through the castle, its gardens and museums. For sports fans, there’s the Lluís Companys stadium & Olympic museum. Just off Plaça España, you’ll find an atypical little village called Poble Espanyol. Head to the Montjuïc Magic Fountain for a free sound and light show. End the evening with some Tapas.
Take an adventurous trip to the magnificent Costa Brava. These medieval villages are full of charm and extraordinary beauty. For the brave, try arroz negra, a traditional dish famous in Catalonia. Its particularity lies in the cuttlefish ink added to the dish, which blackens the rice and adds a pronounced seafood flavor.
Continue your stay with a visit to the Sagrada Familia and the iconic Parc Güell. Several ticket varieties available. End the day with a sweet treat like crema catalana.
A trip to Barcelona wouldn’t be the same without a visit to the Monastery of Montserrat. At the top of this mysterious mountain you’ll find the sanctuary amidst a peculiar and breathtaking rock formation. You can also enjoy the surrounding trails. You can get there on your own by train, or book an excursion. On your way back to central Barcelona, take the time to visit another of Gaudí’s works, such as Casa Batllò.
Enjoy a lighter pace as you stroll along the beach and harbor. Why not visit the Chocolate Museum. For a relaxing atmosphere, sip a drink on the top floor of the Hotel W as you admire the magnificent view of Barcelona one last time. To round off your stay, enjoy a final meal in Plaça Reial.
Flight to Montreal.
