Visit the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) and MIA Park

Start the day with a half- or full-day tour of the Zekreet region: a village in north-western Qatar, near Dukhan and about 80 km north-west of Doha. It is home to Richard Serra’s East-West/West-East installation. Comprising four steel plates, each over 14 metres high, the installation stretches for over 1 km. It contrasts with the soft brown hues of the surrounding desert, offering a commentary on isolation and the passage of time. Other highlights of your trip include a visit to Film City and the Arabian Oryx Sanctuary, home to Qatar’s national animal.
Explore the Fire Station Art Center
The Fire Station Gallery, built in 1982, saw its last fire engine removed in December 2012 before becoming a member of the Qatar Museum Network. Transformed into a contemporary arts center, the galleries exhibit international and local artworks and artists, engage the local community and foster the emergence of new talent through its artist-in-residence program.
