Board the T.E. Draper, designated as a cultural heritage site in 1979. It was the largest log tugboat on Lake des Quinze for the Canadian International Paper from 1929 to 1972.

In April 1971, Premier Robert Bourassa launched the “project of the century” at James Bay. A year later, the choice was made for the La Grande River. This marked the beginning of the massive construction sites that gave birth to the La Grande complex, the largest energy production facility in North America.
*The visit is conducted by bus, but includes stops, a walk of about 500 meters within the power station, and climbing a staircase.
* Electric and/or magnetic fields may disrupt the normal operation of pacemakers, automatic implantable defibrillators, as well as cochlear implant processors. As a precaution, people with such implants cannot participate in the visit within the power station.
* Inside the power station, flat, closed shoes are mandatory. Visitors must wear the provided safety equipment (helmets, glasses, and ear protectors).
As part of the visit takes place outside, don’t forget to dress accordingly.

Visit to the Dispensaire de la Garde de la Corne
Designated a National Historic Site of Canada, the Nursing Centre of La Corne will instantly transport you to the world of colony nurses. You will particularly discover the life of Nurse Gertrude Duchemin, who was a nurse, midwife, administrator, and occasionally a veterinarian for 40 years. Learn more about the opening of nursing centers, the social role, the professional and personal life of nurses, and the evolution of the healthcare system in Quebec.
