FALL IN LOVE WITH TORONTO
By Christine Paulin, sales representative
A dark, dreary city of office towers? I think not! Toronto has definitely gotten a youthful makeover and is now considered a prime travel destination. Few places in the world can boast the combination of nature, urban vibe and architecture that Toronto can.
Every year, thousands of tourists make their way to this great city teeming with activity—and, of course, known for being very safe! Dedicated to becoming the most sustainable city in North America, Toronto is a nature-lover’s paradise replete with 10 million trees, huge parks and natural areas all the way from Don River on the east side to Humber River on the west. Strolling through the city has never been so refreshing and invigorating! Make your way down Yonge Street—recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as being the longest street in the world—stretching a total of 1,861 km from north to south! You’ll find tons of clothing boutiques, souvenir shops and fast-food joints to enjoy along the way. Explore the financial district and stop in at various antique shops, boutiques and furniture stores in the trendy Rosedale and Dabvisville neighbourhoods just north of Bloor Street.
Toronto also has a cool, edgy side that comes to life in the Distillery District—this superb little corner of the city is rich with history… and also offers an amazing variety of places where you can “quench your thirst!” Pastry shops, cafés, bars and restaurants abound in the heritage buildings of a former whiskey distillery. Come evening, you can experience all the excitement big cities are known for: the hip neighbourhoods, party atmosphere and bright lights will remind you of Times Square in New York or Piccadilly Circus in London. The chic, cosmopolitan feel and cultural diversity make you feel like you’ve taken a trip around the world. The Hockey Hall of Fame, the Royal Ontario Museum, Casa Loma, the Bata Shoe Museum, Ripley’s Aquarium and the must-see CN Tower are just some of the City’s major attractions. And, sports lovers will be happy to know that there are always countless baseball, hockey and basketball games to choose from. Stay at Chelsea Hotel in the heart of downtown. Located just steps away from Dundas Square, this hotel provides easy access to a multitude of stores and restaurants and the area has a great vibe you are sure to enjoy.
Alone, with the family, with colleagues or with friends, a new adventure awaits you every day. Like the thousands of other tourists who travel to this fantastic city every year, you’ll find that getting there is easy by luxury coach or Via Rail train. Toronto is THE perfect weekend getaway! Don’t miss out on the action!
