Dive at the hearth of Tokyo’s culinary life, one of the reasons so many people visit the Japanese capital, during this fantastic evening excursion. Join the local Japanese population and savor some of the most symbolic flavors of Tokyo. Do like Tokyoïtes and explore places which you would never find by yourself.
Throughout this culinary excursion, your local guide will tell you the story of the food and places visited, sharing his personal experiences as well as the habits and customs linked to food. Start your evening in the street of Yakitori near Yarakucho, the cradle of the yakitori, a favourite Japanese hors d’oeuvre. Join the crowd of businessmen and women descending on these bars at 5 pm for a glass of sake or a local beer before eating some yakito in a nearby restaurant.
You’ll then go to Tsukishima, to visit Monja street where Monjayaki was born. Often compared to Oasaka’s Okonomiyaki, Monjayaki is a Japanese dough cooked on a heating plate and stocked with various ingredients. Ingredients are finely chopped and mixed in the dough before being roasted. You’ll have the opportunity to see the food prepared before your yeyes, discuss with the cook and sample the Monjayaki straight from the heating plate. On the way back towards yarakucho, taste a taiyaki, a cake filled with sweet dough and kidney beans. The tour ends in a local pub where you can extend the evening or you can go and explore nearby bars and karaoke bars or you can go back to your starting point with your guide.
