Fenestrelle : The Great wall of the Alps

The Fortress of Fenestrelle, located between 1,800 and 2,435 metres altitude, is the largest fortress in Europe and the second longest in the world after the Great Wall of China. It was built by Duke Vittorio Amedeo of Savoy, between 1728 and 1850, to protect northern Italy. It is the only 18th century Piedmont fortress that remains intact, located in a national park.
Pinerolo

Pinerolo is an Italian town in the province of Turin in the Piedmont region. It has a number of religious buildings, including a superb cathedral and a 14th century church. Pinerolo's main claim to fame is its fortress, where Fouquet, Lauzun and the man in the iron mask were imprisoned under Louis 14th. You'll enjoy strolling through the town centre - it has 3 kms of arches - and visiting San Donato cathedral and Palazzo Vittone, among the city's most emblematic monuments.

Turin is the cradle of Italian unity. Victor Emmanuel II made it the first capital of modern-day Italy. At the crossroads of French and Italian culture, the city has numerous architectural monuments, including the Mole Antonelliana, which at 167 metres was the highest building in the world before the Eiffel Tower was built. The royal palace, built in the 17th century for the House of Savoy, the Piazza Vittorio Veneto, one of the largest squares in Europe (31,000 sq metres) and the Castello del Valentino are all important landmarks. Turin is also famous for its dozens of kilometres of arches. After a panoramic bus tour of the most symbolic areas of the city, you may opt for a guided tour of the Baroque palaces, Egyptian museum (the 2nd largest in the world after Cairo and other historic sites.

Shambles near Sestriere
Previously a fan of ClubMed having skied with them in France multiple times and stayed in the Maldives (Kani) in 2024 but this was a shambles from start to finish. Probably best summed up by a bar that 'ran out' of red wine (any red wine) mid evening - how? Multiple issues with the Reception team including double charging - initial apology and double charging refunded with investigations ongoing but not what you need. Food okay (great pasta and pizzas) but not as good or as varied as ClubMed's French ski resorts. Ski equipment guys were fantastic. The Pregelato resort is campus style and on a hill so having to go back to your room can be a treck - we were in the furthest building away and up on the 3rd floor (outdoor stairs) but the rooms were excellent, very comfortable. There is a 'no kids' bar on the top floor of the main building - a bizarre space with plain walls, no views and acres of vinyl that nobody was in for good reason. Very odd. Despite warm temperatures and no snow for weeks the skiing on the lower slopes of Sestriere was very good - the top runs were all shut due to poor snow; the red run under the cable car was also shut. The Pregelato cable car queue was never very long and it was only ever a short wait even at peak times. Our ski guide/instructor Umberto was fantastic, lovely guy.

Poorest value for money vacation ever
This hotel really changed my view on what I believe a Club Med experience should be. I was a real fan of Club Med before, but this stay really changed my mind. Hotel seemed to be overbooked with waiting lines everywhere: before entering the restaurant, at the buffet, at the bar... Food wasn't cooked properly because the chefs needed to hurry up. A la carte restaurants were not bookable via the app nor via reception. We never had a pleasant holiday feeling and even returned home two days early. This is the poorest value for money vacation we ever been to, such a disappointing experience and totally unexpected.

Brilliant family holiday!
We are just home from a fantastic family trip. Where to start. The hotel is lovely, great food, excellent staff, nothing is too much trouble. The kids club is super well organised and kept everyone well entertained at all points. The kids also loved ski school instructors and made lots of friends in the club. We had the most fantastic guide for the week for level 4 adults skiing, Umberto, he made our week! Everyone improved so well and we had some brilliant days out and thoroughly enjoyed the fresh powder on and off piste. Sign us up for next year!

If you like queuing you’ll love it
The positives, the food is good and varied and the accommodation is sizable and clean. The negatives. The Club Med management team is a total shambles and they should either be replaced or go on intensive training as most of the issues are not insurmountable and quite obvious for anyone with experience in hospitality. 1. No luggage tags given or attached on arrival so our luggage got lost. 2, No information given on the transfer by the reps instead a pointless intro on arrival at the hotel with no actual pertinent info e.g. ski school, gondola times etc Therefore what you get is lots of people asking reception the same questions. 3. 1.5 hr queues for ski rental on arrival. Seemingly there was a system where those who pre booked had their equipment in their lockers already but many found theirs empty or wrongly allocated so had to queue up in any case. 4. Dinner times between 7-8.30pm are a total shambolic bun fight. If you don’t make a mad dash for it as soon as the doors open then you have to wait until a table comes free and the management “bouncer” randomly calls the table sizes available. Physical altercations broke out one night when people had had enough. On New Year’s Eve when they did try to implement two timed sittings it didn’t make any difference. 5. Queuing at certain food stations is also a bun fight, some quests don’t get the concept of a queue or just don’t care. Overall the village (no. of chalets and therefore guests) is too big for facilities available e.g. restaurant, bar and spa and they just simply can’t cope when they’re at maximum capacity over the Christmas and New Year weeks which I imagine is the same in half term and Easter holidays. The end result being you have to queue for everything. As a group we still had a good time but it was very much inspite of Club Med and not because of them. I would definitely not do Club Med again.

My favourite was the teen club and i had a very good time with Samuel, Malik and Enzo, they bring life to the party and keep everyone entertained. They are very well mannered and very kind, i would love to come back here to enjoy the teen club again one day but Enzo stay the best
