A multi-faceted festive city, the capital of the Dominican Republic, on the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, was the first European city of the New World. Discover the history and culture of the Caribbean as you visit picturesque villages along the way. In the capital, official guides will recount the history of the colonial era, including visits to museums and to the first cathedral of the New World. At lunchtime, the famous "almuerzo" will give you the chance to appreciate the culinary specialties of this colorful culture. We'll end the day with time for shopping in the famous Del Conde street, where history sits side by side with modernity.

Let the wind guide you over the Caribbean Sea to discover or revisit Saona Island and the surrounding area. On board our 25-meter catamaran, we'll sail out from the charming fishing village of Bayahibe to visit the natural park to the east of the Dominican Republic. Our experienced crew will show you the most beautiful spots, and you'll have flippers, masks and snorkels available on the boat. You'll enjoy a local lunch in the shade of the palm trees in a most idyllic setting, before setting off back to Bayahibe. You'll stop off at Palmilla to swim, and hunt for starfish.

Lobster cruise

Departing from Club Med’s beach, navigate in the turquoise waters of the lagoon along Tortuga Bay. After stopping at the shallow natural swimming pool of Juanillo, feast a local buffet with a grilled lobster, specially prepared on board by our chef. To protect the lobsters during their reproduction period, a Mahi-Mahi fish fillet and a grilled shrimp brochette will be served from March to June.

Catalina, between the ocean and the river

We will head to Bayahibe to embark on a 75 feet catamaran that will take us to “The Wall” for a snorkeling adventure accompanied by a guide. After stopping at Catalina, enjoy a delicious meal and later, lounge at the beach or take a snorkeling tour along the reef. Once on board our catamaran we will pass along the coast of la Romana & Casa de Campo, before heading to Chavon River to discover the natural beauty of its surroundings.

Bachata dance class

Included

Bachata was originally romantic music of the Dominican Republic, played by several guitars (three or four), accompanied by percussion (bongo, maracas, guiro) and a bass. Since 1999, the Spanish started to dance the bachata (which resembles the salsa)...followed by other nationalities!

Merengué dance class

Included

Today the Merengue is often associated to salsa because numerous salsa movements are more easily made in Merengue. People dance the Merengue more or less all over the American continent and in the West of Europe. The Merengue has existed in Haiti and the Dominican Republic since the middle of the 18th century. One of the characteristics of this dance is the very pronounced movement of the hips.

However, experienced kitesurfers prefer the winter season from October to May when the wind conditions are at their best for a sportier experience. Option to hire the equipment on site.

Stand Up Paddleboarding

Stand Up Paddle boarding is done in the sea, close to the shore. The paddle boarder stands on a large surfboard and paddles, the difficulty being to keep your balance (originally the paddle boarder used his arms like a surfer). For information: at Punta Cana, the Discovery center also has a Stand Up Paddle boarding excursion, at extra cost.

Aquafitness

Smoothly follow a series of exercises in the pool with this aquafitness course. Your lightness in the water allows you to perform fluid and tonic movements rhythmically to music.
