La Chole Tour - Archeological tour

The sacred city of the lords of time ! Explored areas include what may be the largest Mesoamerican ball court, a one-hectare pyramidal base and a hill with petroglyphs. One unique aspect to the site is that its pyramids are constructed with river stone and adobe, not common in Mexican archeology. Do not expect the mayor pyramids because they are still underground! Truly a cultural experienced not to be missed!

Favourite spot to holiday with our family (but also needs a little attention on the hotel mgmt side)
This was our third time at club med ixtapa - and our family loves it so much each and every time. A perfect, beautiful, well kept, clean beach. The site is fantastic. I love how small it is as a resort - it makes it easy and safe for my kids (ages 8 and 10) to walk around freely. and the GOs......... CONSINSTENTLY, they are incredible. Their enthusiasm, seemingly endless amount of energy, work ethic and positivity - are really unmatched. They work so hard, but make it look so easy - and always have time for us and our family. They are all incredibly awesome, but of course will give some extra special shoutouts: Paolo, Franco, Dylan, Jorge, Luna, Izzy, Yuki, Pablo, Holly, Chucho, Ceci...... and the list goes on! One clear area of improvement (and the reason for the reduction of one star) is the hotel management aspect of the resort. For example, we arrived to our room and the ceiling had water pouring out. we called the front desk - a friendly person immediately took our call and told us they would call maintenance and then let us know. maintenance person came fairly quickly and told me it was the air conditioner and did some work on the room. they left a giant dusty mess of the washroom - and no one got back to us to confirm whether or not it had been fixed. it seemed ok. two days later same thing happened. called reception and a friendly person told us they would send maintenance and took our number so that they could be in touch to let us know what was going on. came back to the room an hour or two later- dusty mess again - and seemingly problem fixed, but no one called us. we called reception and they told us we should move rooms and our new room was ready. new room had a lock that didn't work and a safe that didn't lock. reported these issues - everyone took our number and assured us follow up - but not clear that anything was ever done. Our family even mentioned this to the chef de village, who took information, pointed us to the right person who said they would look into everything..... and then........ nothing. just a bit of a miss - and feels like should be a relatively easy fix in terms of enhancing client communication, especially so that we don't feel like we need to chase people down. Overall - this place is still great and has a very special energy - just feels like when paying a premium to be at a resort like this - should focus on these aspects.

Club Med Ixtapa
We had a great week as a family of 5 at Club Med Ixtapa. Thank you to the tennis team Dylan, Jorge, and Luna for a great week of tennis and pickleball. We also were grateful for the amazing Mini Club staff: Naomi, Tyra, Sammy, Irasema, Claudia, Jenny, Sonny and Mirka. Our kids had a great time! Also want to highlight the warm service from the entire team at the restaurant, bars, and pools. We felt welcomed and the service was great. Family highlights: -Daily morning tennis lessons -Afternoon pickleball -Beautiful beach, plenty of chairs in the shade, calm waves. -Sailing lessons, kayaking (6 and up!) -Archery (6 and up) -Mini club: We had 3 kids 5, 5, and 7 join the mini club throughout the day. Our oldest wanted to spend the whole day with mini club. Our younger two sometimes were hesitant but always had a great time once they were there and we knew they were in great hands. Having the option for our kids to eat dinner with mini club helped us have some more peaceful meals. We attended most of the "kids shows" at 8:15pm, these were fun for the kids but sometimes too loud for the adults :). -Pool was beautiful. Thankful to have a shallower "kids pool" which allowed our kids to play more safely (depth about 2.5 ft). -Cool A/C in the rooms, wonderful daily room cleaning. Spacious family rooms. -Iguanas roaming the grounds, lovely warm tropical weather. -Reservation dinner at the more formal restaurant one night: most of the food was great! Fun to have a change from the buffet options. -We took the excursion to the turtle release. This was great for young children. The drive through the countryside was beautiful and the tour guide gave great explanations for the surrounding area as well as the turtle release experience. Downsides: -Rooms weren't very updated (as previous reviews mention). We had a leak in one sink, so we just didn't use it. -We would have loved to have an option for childcare during either the advanced tennis lesson at 8am or the tennis tournament at 5pm since the regular Miniclub hours are 8:45am-5:30pm. We made it work anyways! -Buffet has plenty of options but not a lot of variety throughout the week. We always found one great option for each meal, but had we stayed longer than a week, we may have tired of the food. Overall a great week and we would go back!

Love coming for a week of tennis at Club Med
We love coming down to Club Med Ixtapa for a tennis week. We do the lessons in the morning, and then the competitions every evening at 5pm for a great time. It's one of the most cost effective ways to get a tennis week in on the West Coast of North America. We also enjoy aqua-gym in the middle of he day to get some stretching and core work in while cooling off in the heat. And obviously the food is good (particularly if you like a variety of Mexican food mixed in with others), along with other activities available (sailing, kayaking, archery, bocce ball, pickleball, etc). And the staff are fantastic. Super nice. The only downside is that the rooms could use a bit of a refresh at some point (we notice since we've been coming for years). Time to repaint and redecorate, but they're clean, serviceable and good air conditioning

Phenomenal family vacation resort
For a first time visit to a ClubMed, we cannot express enough praise for the staff and atmosphere of the resort. Our kids felt safe and welcomed, and we were all thoroughly entertained by the staff, who genuinely seemed to love working there. There are so many things to do as family, and lots of downtime places as well. Food was great and guests were all polite and proper (no unruly behaviour that kids shouldn't see). I would highly recommend this resort to families looking for a memorable vacation.

Repeat guests. Our favourite family vacation spot. Issues with our room handled poorly..
This was our family's third time at Club Med Ixtapa in the last 18 months, this time with our larger extended family group. We and our kids absolutely love it each time. Being a smaller resort, it's perfect for our kids to have freedom to run around and find their own fun knowing they can always find us easily when they need to. The beach is terrific, food is always excellent and the wide range of activities from morning till night kept everyone entertained and happy all day long. The GOs are an incredible group of people who work so hard with so much energy all the time. Special mention to a few wonderful GOs who went out of their way to hang out with our kids during their free time and meals and really made them feel special - Paulo and Franco (waterfront), Izzy (Archery) and Dylan (tennis). Our daughter latched onto the trapeze program and we were all so impressed by the patience and dedication of the circus team - Chucho, Pablo, Holly and Ceci. The entire Mini-club team are also great. Our kids especially loved Mirkah. The only reason this isn't a five-star review is because of the hotel and facilities management and poor communication we experienced when reporting issues. The family suites themselves are a bit dated but clean, simple and great for families. We spend very little time in the room anyhow. However, we encountered a number of minor issues with the rooms during out stay which we felt weren't handled as well as they could have been. The A/C unit in our bathroom was leaking water all over the bathroom. Reception sent a maintenance person to fix it but they left a mess in the bathroom after they were done. Two days later the A/C unit started leaking again. We asked for the reception team to send someone again and follow up with us once the issue was resolved. We didn't hear anything for several hours. When we followed up with reception, they said "your new room is ready", to which we replied "what new room"? Their solution was to move us to a new room, which is fine, but this wasn't properly communicated. In the new room we had issues with the door lock and safe, which we reported but never heard back about any resolution and aren't even sure if these issues were addressed. When I visited reception to discuss some of these issues and their impact on our stay, I was told by the reception staff that they would speak with their supervisor who will contact me. Nobody ever did. With some more investment in their facilities management and communication, our stay could have been perfect.
