Whistler
Where everything is possible
A powder and alpine paradise that has everything you could dream of—there are no better words to describe Whistler. On my first visit in 2010 during the Winter Olympic Games, I was instantly smitten. And I’ve been back every year since then.
Located about an hour and 45 minutes from Vancouver, Whistler is an immense playground with loads to offer to ski enthusiasts of every level. No matter what you’re looking for, Whistler has got it: perfectly groomed corduroy, dense glades with moguls and challenges galore, and even vast glaciers with steep vertical that is sure to please even the most adventurous.
The best part is that everything is so easily accessible thanks to the 36 lifts servicing the mountains of Whistler and Blackcomb. These two superb playgrounds are connected by a gondola that gives you access to a variety of completely different areas. From the top of the Whistler Glacier, you can make your way to several legendary spots including Harmony Bowl and Symphony Bowl, or even enjoy a short excursion over to the Creekside where you can tackle the Dave Murray run, used for the Men’s Downhill event in 2010. Blackcomb, for its part, has an undeniable charm all its own. Climbing to the top of the glacier on foot is an absolute must. It’s just a short 3 to 4-minute walk to amazing views of the valley and an 8-km trail that will take you all the way back down to the village. The 7th Heaven side is the ideal place to end the day since it gets full sun throughout the afternoon.
