Tignes: always memorable

Last spring, I was thrilled to once again be heading off on a ski vacation to one of my absolute favourite destinations in the world—Tignes! This was my 6th time visiting this always-amazing resort which, as I expected, hadn’t lost a single bit of the charm that won me over on my very first visit.

Tignes features a multitude of incredibly well-maintained slopes for skiers of all levels, a fun snowpark and excellent off-piste options. And if that wasn’t already enough, the Grande Motte Glacier, peaking at 3,456 metres in altitude, boasts some of the most spectacular and seemingly endless views. You can even catch a glimpse of Mont Blanc, far off on the horizon. Tignes is well known for its abundance of snow and a season that lasts well into late April (or even the summer if you count the glacier). At the end of March, I was treated to some of the most extraordinary winter-like conditions, and even a layer of fresh snow!

Staying in Val Claret, the highest village in the area, is a strategic choice. From there, you can choose to take a short walk to the funicular that will take you through a tunnel to the base of Grande Motte, head towards the famous Aiguille Percée or even ski on the Val d’Isère side. Another important fact: my ticket provided access to the enormous ski area of Espace Killy.

And, the crowning glory? Tignes is home to some of the finest French cuisine—guaranteed to make your European vacation even more complete!
