Truly Panorama

Panorama is one of those places I just couldn’t wait to visit. I have to admit that I am positively sold on ski-in/ski-out towns. I frankly love the fact that everything is so accessible and easy, and that I have nothing else to do but sit back and enjoy. I consider myself somewhat of an epicurean and I just love good skiing, great food, easy access… all that a real ski vacation should be. The resort village of Panorama is magnificent and, everywhere you look, the view is… well, panoramic (excuse the pun)!

Panorama is also as family-oriented as it gets—from the mountain’s ski school to the condos equipped with full kitchens (to help you respect your family’s everyday routine and budget) and the wide range of non-ski activities (skating, games, etc.) perfect for keeping everyone entertained.

Now, moving on to more serious business—let me tell you a bit more about the skiing (this is a ski magazine, after all). Panorama has something to satisfy every skier in your group! I must admit that the terrain is much more varied, vast and especially steeper than I initially thought, especially with the 128 acres of skiable terrain that was added in 2018. And talk about snow! While it’s true that Panorama sometimes gets a little less of the white stuff than its other Western counterparts, the snow in these parts is simply divine. Adrenaline junkies will want to head for Taynton Bowl with its crazy steep terrain and challenges galore. You will definitely want to indulge in a good soak in the hot tub at the end of the day to help relieve your burning thighs and get you ready for the next day. The vertical drop at Panorama is quite impressive. You can ski 4,200 metres down a run that will take you up to 45 minutes. Now that’s some serious skiing! Come evening, be sure to stop in at the Mile 1 Hut where you can refuel with a delicious fondue before heading back downhill, your headlamps guiding the way.

New and Noteworthy 

MONSTROUS TERRAIN & NEW ACCESS: Last winter, Panorama welcomed a 128-acre (52 hectare) expansion to Taynton Bowl, the resort’s off-piste backcountry style terrain. It was the first phase of a multi-stage terrain expansion, opening up a new alpine zone to skiers and riders. This year skiers were able to access the highest point of this terrain by a custom built, 13 passenger snowcat. The Monster X, is equipped with plush seating and a pumping sound system and offers a journey up that’s just as much fun as the descent that follows.

SNOWLICIOUS: Panorama is renowned for its boutique alpine dining scene, and this year the resort kicked things up a notch with the addition of the first snowcat food truck in Canada. A professional kitchen installed on a Prinoth snow groomer, the Snowlicious Mobile Kitchen offers a casual alfresco experience right on the slopes.
