Les Arcs and La Plagne
The Winning Pair
By Robert Choquette and Marilyn Griffiths, Special Contributors
With Mont Blanc as a backdrop, Les Arcs and La Plagne form, under the Paradiski umbrella, one of the world’s largest ski destinations. They’re linked by the 200-passenger Vanoise Express cable car, both feature efficient lift networks and are blessed with massive verticals. Between the two resorts, every ability level from beginner to the most aggressive is catered to. With two glaciers and extensive snowmaking on the lower slopes, snow coverage is reliable.
La Plagne and Les Arcs may be neighbours, but their personalities are worlds apart.
Located on a sunny plateau and surrounded by vast, gentle snowfields, La Plagne is ideal for families. The destination is comprised of multiple villages, with Belle Plagne and Plagne Centre forming the hub. Ideally located in terms of reliable snow coverage, they provide access to mostly easy and intermediate terrain. Big, vibrant and dynamic, La Plagne is anything but quaint.
