Killington
By Kevin Gasior
Looking for a big mountain destination that’s an easy drive from Quebec? Killington, Vermont is the largest ski area in Eastern North America and should definitely be your next must-try destination.
What I enjoy most about skiing Killington is being a part of the Killington culture. It’s a mountain town filled with passionate skiers and unique entrepreneurs that bring their flair to the region. Just pick your ski-in condo or hotel room, settle in and explore at your leisure. There is more than enough terrain and après-ski variety to keep you exploring for a week. Gendron Travel also offers Canadian funds at par on all vacation packages!
In my teens, I would ski Killington in October, mid-season and always in May! It has the longest ski season in the East and is host to the only FIS World Cup race in Eastern North America. All of this is made possible by the resort’s incredible snowmaking capabilities, ensuring consistent conditions all season long.
After 25 million dollars in on-mountain upgrades, 2018–19 promises to be an exciting season indeed. These fabulous changes will make the Beast of The East more fun and more accessible for all guests, but especially for families and intermediate riders. There is no lack of advanced terrain at Killington either—the open woods policy, Burton Stash terrain park, half pipes and legendary mogul runs will keep your thighs burning all week long. A new 6-passenger, bubble-covered lift is also currently being installed. There is nothing better than riding to the top in one of their two warm gondolas and now a bubble covered chair too. In addition to all of this, a new RFID gate will be replacing the ticket scanning system, cutting down on fraud as a result and providing quicker access to Killington & Pico’s 2,000 acres via 29 lifts.
Treat yourself to a Vermont vacation and ski Killington this winter.
