JACKSON HOLE
Skiing… cowboy-style!
Although Wyoming is best known for its vast plains, wide open spaces—including renowned Yellowstone National Park—and, of course, its cowboys, alpine skiing is also very much a part of the landscape in this great American state.
To the south, Grand Teton National Park features some amazing ski resorts. And then, there’s Jackson Hole, which should definitely be on everybody’s bucket list! This particular resort is known for having the longest continuous vertical in the U.S. Plus, its large percentage of black and double black diamond runs makes it quite appealing to more extreme skiers. My personal favourite is the Hoback sector, where I’ve clocked some of my fastest downhill speeds ever! And, if you can gather up the courage to tackle the famous Corbet’s Couloir, you’ll get to experience an adrenaline rush like no other.
All this might lead you to think that Jackson Hole is made exclusively for expert level skiers—but nothing could be further from the truth! In fact, close to half of the runs at this resort are blue or green, making them much less intimidating and much more appealing to groups and families that include skiers of all levels.
NEW FOR THE 2018–19 SEASON
This year, Jackson Hole is proud to introduce its brand-new Sweetwater Gondola, which will facilitate access to nearly 12,000 feet of intermediate terrain mid-mountain. The resort will also be adding a new chalet offering a range of services including a restaurant, equipment rental counter and a ski school, to name a few.
