A SMALL TOWN ON A BIG MOUNTAIN

When you arrive at the Kelowna International Airport via Air Canada or WestJet, you might just feel that you are on a wine tour instead of a ski vacation! In fact, the heart of B.C.’s famous Okanagan wine country also happens to be the gateway to one of Canada’s top ski areas, SilverStar Mountain Resort.

The Okanagan’s summer climate is ideal for wine making, as the hundreds of vineyards scattered throughout the region clearly attest to. In the winter, however, the weather is perfect for producing the dry champagne powder snow that SilverStar Mountain is renowned for. SilverStar boasts reliable powder and packed powder snow conditions year after year, ideal for incredible Nordic and alpine skiing and snowboarding.

Named after a historic mining claim, SilverStar is an easy 55-minute drive north of Kelowna through the town of Vernon, which has a population of about 40,000 and an abundance of shopping options. After driving 20 minutes up from Vernon into the Monashee Mountain range, you’ll arrive at a small town unlike any other–colourful SilverStar Mountain Village. At an elevation of 1,609 metres, this Victorian-style village is conveniently located mid-mountain on the front side of the ski area, with a wide variety of true ski-in/out lodging options. The vibrant colours of the architecture are bound to be one of the first things you notice and remember about SilverStar. Themed after an early 1900s mining town, the bars, restaurants and shops that line the charming main street are where you’ll find long-time residents and local characters that help give SilverStar its warm, homey feel. With tons of personality, it’s filled with friendly, helpful people who are eager to make you feel welcome, and endless activities to make every day more fun than the last. No need for a car here!

After breakfast in your condo or at one of our cafés, your day starts with a ski run down to the Comet high-speed 6-pack chairlift—rather than a chairlift line-up! True ski-out convenience, and amazing snow conditions with a variety of magnificently groomed runs or powder stashes are right at your doorstep! SilverStar Mountain is the 3rd largest ski area in B.C. With 3,282 acres of skiable terrain and 132 runs spread across four mountain faces, the variety of terrain is second to none. Long, perfectly groomed cruisers, steep powderfilled chutes, long winch-cat groomed black diamond runs, spacious glades, terrain park and more, keep all levels of skiers and boarders entertained. It’s a haven for skiers and snowboarders looking for a big mountain experience away from the line-ups. And that’s what makes SilverStar so unique—a small town on a big mountain with all the terrain you need and no crowds.

You can also enjoy access to Canada’s largest daily-groomed cross-country trail network featuring 105 kilometers of world-class Nordic trails shared with Sovereign Lake. Or explore a magical 16-kilometers network of snowshoe trails through forests of giant trees. Play ice hockey or enjoy a romantic skate on a frozen mountain pond. Laugh out loud over and over again as you speed downhill on tubes at Tube Town Adventure Park. Or play a friendly game at Pinheads Bowling Alley. Enjoy a horse-drawn sleigh ride dinner tour to The Wild Horseman’s Cabin. Or take a snowcat ride under the stars to Paradise Camp for dinner. Even savour a glass (or two!) of famous B.C. Okanagan wine, paired with a gourmet meal! The options are practically limitless. SilverStar Mountain is truly a special place, unlike any other resort in B.C.
