Shouya Maruhachi
This building was the residence of the Yokosawa family, a local wealthy merchant. It was built at the end of the Edo period and was reconstructed and remodeled several times during the Meiji, Taisho and Showa eras. This traditional Japanese family residence with its earthen floors and ‘irori’ hearth is the setting for tourists from overseas to interact with local residents and others.

Talking about kimono, the obi (sash) is the most important part of kimono dressing. There are different undersashes and ribbons worn underneath the obi. The obi itself often requires the use of stiffeners and ribbons for definition of shape and decoration.
