La vita è bella
Perfectly situated to combine cycling, beach, history and gastronomy, the coastal area of Emilia-Romagna is a magnificent cycling destination. There are cycling routes of a wide variety of sizes and scenery, combining seaside landscapes, vineyards and olive groves, castles, fortified towns and winding mountain passes.
What’s more, this region is no stranger to cyclists. The Giro d’Italia passes through here regularly. Amateur cyclists are also well catered for, whatever their ambitions. In the south of Emilia-Romagna, there are many bike hotels, an ideal formula for cycling camps: everything is designed with cycling and vacations in mind.
Many of these bike hotels are ideally located, close to the beach. So you’re perfectly accommodated, fed and looked after by hosts who know and understand cyclists. And, after your bike rides, you can bask in the sun, swim in the Adriatic Sea and rest up for the next ride.
Alternatively, if you want to take a break from pedaling, you can take the train to visit Bologna and its historic and university districts. Emilia-Romagna is also rich in vineyards, which are a pleasure to visit. In this region, as in the rest of Italy, eating is a real event. The food is really good, and the local specialties are a pure delight!
